AT A GLANCE
Numerology assigns symbolic meanings to numbers derived from dates and names. In modern Western or Pythagorean numerology, different calculations describe different themes: a birth-date number, a name-based number or a changing calendar cycle. It is an interpretive practice, not an established way to measure personality or predict events.

Which numerology this library uses #
The name Pythagorean refers to a modern Western convention that cycles the Latin alphabet through values 1–9. Ancient Pythagoreans explored numerical relationships, but that does not establish that today's name charts were taught by Pythagoras. Chaldean, Hebrew and other systems use different assumptions; their results should not be combined as if the calculations were interchangeable.
Here, the core chart retains 11, 22 and 33 when the stated reduction procedure reaches them. Temporary personal cycles reduce to 1–9. These are editorial choices within a varied practice, explained in the reduction guide.
Start with the question, then choose the calculation #
The Life Path uses a full birth date as a broad ongoing theme. Expression uses all eligible name letters; Soul Urge uses vowels; Personality uses consonants. The Birthday number comes from the day of the month. These positions give a number its interpretive context.
Personal Year, Personal Month and Personal Day concern calendar cycles. They do not replace Life Path each time the date changes. A general number article explains the symbolic vocabulary; a Life Path article applies that vocabulary to an ongoing reflective practice.
A small example #
For a fictional person born on 16 July 1987, our component method gives 7 + 7 + 7 = 21, then 3. The general number 3 introduces expression and development; Life Path 3 asks how to practice expression, listen and finish work. Neither result proves that this person is outgoing or must become an artist.
Begin with one relevant prompt and a specific observation from your life. If the prompt does not fit, leave it aside. Avoid searching every alternative convention until a flattering answer appears.
Keep interpretation proportionate #
A repeatable sum does not validate the meanings assigned to it. Similar descriptions can fit many people, and memorable matches can overshadow misses. Do not use a chart to diagnose health, evaluate another person's worth or decide financial and relationship matters without ordinary evidence.
You can read this entire library without submitting a name or date. If you later use the Synergy profile, its calculator preserves 11 and 22 but not 33 and uses a different birth-date aggregation. The worked guides explain the resulting differences.
