AT A GLANCE
The Expression number uses all eligible letters in a chosen full name, usually the full birth name in Western numerology. Practitioners interpret it through abilities and how a person expresses them. It is sometimes called Destiny, but the label does not mean that a name fixes a life outcome.

Choose and record the name #
This library uses the full birth name as the default interpretive convention and sums all its eligible letters together before reducing. If studying a current or chosen name, record that input explicitly. Do not quietly combine parts of different names or treat a birth name as a requirement for identity.
Use the repeating A–Z values 1–9: A/J/S = 1, B/K/T = 2, C/L/U = 3, D/M/V = 4, E/N/W = 5, F/O/X = 6, G/P/Y = 7, H/Q/Z = 8, I/R = 9. Ignore spaces and punctuation; document any transliteration.
Worked example #
For the illustrative name Maya Reed: M4 + A1 + Y7 + A1 + R9 + E5 + E5 + D4 = 36. Reduce 3 + 6 = 9. The Expression number is 9 under the whole-name-total convention.
Retain 11, 22 and 33 if reached during reduction. Other practitioners reduce name components separately, which can alter intermediate master-number labels. The name calculation guide explains the rule used here.
How to interpret the position #
Expression 9 would use the general vocabulary of completion and wider contribution to ask how abilities are shared. A practical question might be whether a skill can be made useful to others through a clear guide or handover. That is different from interpreting a birth date as Life Path 9.
Do not assume the number measures talent or predicts a profession. Learning, access and practice remain central. A different spelling changes the arithmetic, not necessarily the person.
Existing profile behavior #
Synergy’s profile uses the entered name, accepts only A–Z letters for scoring and preserves 11 and 22, not 33. Accented letters are ignored rather than automatically transliterated. Check the input convention before comparing results.

Put it into practice
The profile preserves 11 and 22, but not 33, and uses different date and Daily Number formulas. Compare the calculations.
