The Western/Pythagorean letter table #

1: A, J, S. 2: B, K, T. 3: C, L, U. 4: D, M, V. 5: E, N, W. 6: F, O, X. 7: G, P, Y. 8: H, Q, Z. 9: I, R.

Uppercase and lowercase have the same value. Ignore spaces and punctuation. Sum the eligible letters across the whole selected name before reducing; do not reduce each name component separately in this library's method. Reducing means repeatedly adding digits, stopping at 1–9, 11, 22 or 33.

Choose and document the name #

Many Western practitioners start with the full birth name, including middle names. If you explore a current, chosen or professional name, label that input. A name change is not evidence that a person must discard their identity to obtain a preferred number.

The table only defines A–Z. For names written in other scripts or with diacritics, any transliteration or accent conversion is an additional convention that must be stated. There is no single universally accepted cross-language conversion. The current Synergy profile simply ignores characters outside A–Z; this can omit an accented letter rather than convert it.

Worked example: the fictional name Maya Reed #

Write the letters and values: M = 4, A = 1, Y = 7, A = 1; R = 9, E = 5, E = 5, D = 4. All letters total 4 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 5 + 4 = 36 → 9. This is Expression 9.

Using the fixed vowel set A, E, I, O, U, the vowels total A + A + E + E = 1 + 1 + 5 + 5 = 12 → 3. This is Soul Urge 3. Consonants M + Y + R + D total 4 + 7 + 9 + 4 = 24 → 6: Personality 6.

Check the unreduced arithmetic: 12 + 24 = 36. The vowel and consonant totals must account for every included letter exactly once. Their separately reduced numbers need not add to the final Expression number without further reduction.

What happens to Y #

For reproducibility, this library's examples and the existing profile treat Y as a consonant. Some practitioners use Y as a vowel when it performs a vowel sound. That alternative requires a pronunciation decision, not just a different arithmetic step.

If Y is counted as a vowel in Maya Reed, the vowel total becomes 19 → 1 and the consonant total becomes 17 → 8. Expression remains 36 → 9. Report which rule you used rather than claiming one of these outputs reveals the person's hidden true identity.

Master numbers and the profile #

A completed letter total of 29 reduces to 11 and stops; 22 or 33 stays unchanged. Record 11/2, 22/4 or 33/6 if showing the underlying root. Do not preserve a running subtotal merely because it happened to reach a master number before the remaining letters were added.

The current profile uses the same cycling A–Z values and fixed vowel set but only preserves 11 and 22. A final total of 33 therefore becomes 6 there. These interpretations are symbolic; neither a letter sum nor its traditional label proves abilities or motives.
